GREUBEL FORSEY – The brand’s “cheapest” watch costs $150,000. So we know better than to let our jaws hit the floor when we were told that this new Double Balancier timepiece costs an incredible $350,000. Of course, the brand’s watchmaking chops are of the highest order. Greubel Forsey won the Aiguille d’or at the annual Grand Prix d’horlogerie de Geneve — the top prize for the best overall watch at the Oscars of the watchmaking world – not once but twice, first in 2010 and again last year too. The 3-D dial on this new Double Balancier timepiece reveals two balance wheels and many of the 285 components of this timepiece that’s limited to 33 pieces. It took took eight years (GF came into existence only 12 years ago) for this watch to go from concept to production.
